Does your website stack up?

by Ian on

A quick questionnaire for you.

Your website should be your best marketing tool. Answer these three questions to see if your website stacks up.

There are three categories your website has to perform in to make it a great marketing tool. These categories are;

  1. People need to find it,
  2. You need to engage them to keep them there, and
  3. You need to get their contact information.

Answer these three questions to see if your website performs well in all three categories, and also score your results.

  1. Take two keywords, or keyword phrases (one to five words each) from your “Home” page, or “About Us” page, and plug each keyword into a Google search, and see if you are on the first page of Google for each keyword. Give your company ten (10) points for position one on page one, and count down to one point for position 10 on page one. If you are on page two or later, give your company zero (0) points.
  2. If you have a blog, how often is it updated? Give your company one point each time you update your blog a month. You may have to average this over six months. If you don’t have a blog, take a zero.
  3. Count up how many pages, on your site, including your blog, you ask for contact information with an optin form, by giving away a download of something for free. Give your company a point for each page you have an optin form collecting contact information from your visitor. If you only collect contact information on your “Contact Page”, take a zero for this question.

OK, let’s see how you did. If you got five points or better on each of the questions, you have a great marketing website.

If you got three points are better on any question, you are OK in that category, but you need to work much harder at it.

If you got less than three points on any of these three questions, you do not have a very good marketing website, and you need to upgrade it, if you want your website to bring more leads to your business.
